ASTORIA/LIC WATERFRONT PARKS

montage of Astoria parks

The Astoria and Long Island City Waterfront Parks Catalyst Project seeks to enliven seven waterfront parks along the East River in northwestern Queens. This is done by tapping into the area's fertile and diverse community and working to connect local community groups to apply their knowledge of the area's needs and desires to help program and revitalize the area's parks. With our community partners, we develop specific project strategies and goals, including:

  • Organize and connect community groups to develop and implement a shared vision for the waterfront parks.
  • Develop programs and publications that promote community activity in the parks, as well as bringing programming from City Parks Foundation to help enrich parks life.
  • Support the city's greenway plan for the Queens East River, which proposes linking the waterfront parks along the East River and creating continuous community access to the River.
