Welcome to Partnerships for Parks, a joint program of

City Parks Foundation      Ciy of New York/Parks & Recreation

We believe that active and involved communities are essential to vibrant parks and neighborhoods and to a healthy city. Founded in 1995, Partnerships for Parks helps New Yorkers work together to make neighborhood parks thrive. We strengthen our diverse, growing network of dedicated park volunteers and groups by creating opportunities for them to celebrate their parks and accomplishments, access resources, become more effective leaders in their communities, and work with government to affect decisions about their parks.

Featured Volunteer Group: Dred Scott Bird Sanctuary
Volunteers from Dred Scott Bird Sanctuary in the Bronx created a thriving bird sanctuary in Grant Park and worked with the Capital Projects division of the Parks Department to give their community a voice in the design of new facilities for the park, including a playground and a seniors area. They were featured in the summer 2007 issue of the Leaflet. Click here to read an expanded version of the Leaflet article with additional information about the group’s plans for offering educational programs in the bird sanctuary.
