Join us in Greening Western Queens!

Greening Western Queens is a new project bringing hundreds of new trees to Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside and Woodside over the next three years!

Did you know?

Trees cool your neighborhood in the summer and block cold winds in the winter, reducing costs of heating and air conditioning.

Trees are also natural air filters, cleaning out pollution from the air we breathe.

Putting new trees on your block can bring the community together and make your neighborhood more beautiful.

How YOU Can Get Involved!

Contact Kyle Richard at KRichard@CityParksFoundation.org or 917-613-5724 to get information on these exciting opportunities:

  • Join a mapping party lead by TreeKIT to help identify where new trees can be planted
  • Learn about tree care and receive supplies, support and resources to help you in your tree care efforts
  • Participate in events and meetings to share ideas about where you’d like trees planted in your neighborhood
  • Find out about leadership training opportunities available through Partnerships for Parks and bring your community together around trees!

Greening Western Queens is a project of City Parks Foundation through the Partnerships for Parks program, in partnership with NYC Parks and New York Restoration Project and is supported by the Greening Western Queens Fund of North Star Fund.
