Partnerships for Parks is often the first point of contact for volunteers and community groups seeking to begin or expand upon their efforts to support parks. Our staff help volunteers and groups connect with decision makers, identify programming and funding opportunities, request park beautification tools and supplies, and much more...
Volunteer Opportunities: Through our eblasts, website, newsletters, and outreach network, we connect interested volunteers to ongoing community group efforts in neighborhood parks, helping to grow and sustain those activities.
Tools and Supplies: By working closely with our Outreach Coordinators, community groups that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to their neighborhood parks are eligible to receive supplies for approved volunteer projects.
Programming: Partnerships for Parks helps groups to build relationships with staff in City Parks Foundation (CPF) and the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR), and to work together to provide cultural, recreational, and educational programs for kids and adults that best fit community needs and interests.
Publications: Where appropriate, Partnerships works with community groups to produce high quality, original publications that build involvement and promote neighborhood parks throughout the city. Partnerships can help groups fund their publication through our grants programs. Also through our Catalyst Program, we document and promote community strategies which enhance park stewardship.
Grants: Partnerships for Parks’ Capacity Fund provides grants from $250 to $5,000 to help community-based groups and organizations grow their ability to care for their park. Our Catalyst Mini Grants provide grants from $500 - $1,500 to help partners develop or expand their use and care for waterfront park properties in the Catalyst project sites. We have also compiled a list of grant opportunities that meet park groups needs, supporting everything from bulbs and tools to environmental advocacy.
