Cultivate and Support Park Leaders

Partnerships for Parks builds the capacity of park leaders so they can more effectively achieve their goals. Our skill-building workshops, consultation sessions, and written materials cultivate the skills of park volunteers and provide them with the customized tools necessary for the continued success and sustainability of their community groups. As a result, volunteers become more effective leaders in their communities and can work with government to affect decisions about their parks.

Two of these resources include:

Partnerships Academy Fellowship Programs: Partnerships currently offers two free, year-long programs that are customized to the needs of parks volunteers and street tree stewards who want to take their networking, project management, and organizational development skills to the next level. Fellows learn new skills, network and share best practices, hear from experienced resource speakers, and are eligible for a selective grants program.

Resource Library: Our online library of materials is based on organizational development techniques and the successes and experiences of New York City park stewards. Community groups can download and print tip sheets and accompanying worksheets on topics including becoming a 501(c)(3), working with elected officials, and developing fundraising skills.
